How To Make Fourth of July Popsicles

By Stephanie Brown, About.com

These pops are much like the "bomb-pops" you used to get from the ice cream man.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: several hours

Here's How:

  1. Line the cups up close together for pouring.
  2. Pour 2 Tablespoons of red Kool-aid into each cup and freeze until slushy, but firm enough to hold a popsicle stick upright.
  3. Remove from freezer and place popsicle stick in the middle of each cup.
  4. Pour 2 Tablespoons white Kool-aid into each cup and freeze until solid.
  5. Remove from freezer and pour 2 Tablespoons blue Kool-aid into each cup and freeze until solid.
  6. Remove from freezer, peel cups away and enjoy!

Tips:

  1. You can use different colors of Kool-aid for different holidays or just to experiment.
  2. Other liquids can be used as well. For healthier popsicles, use juices. For active sunny days, use sports drinks.
  3. When your child is sick, use this recipe with some food coloring and pedialyte.

What You Need:

  • Red Kool-aid (cherry, tropical punch, black cherry, etc.)
  • White Kool-aid (lemon ice, others vary by season)
  • Blue Kool-aid (raspberry reaction, berry blue, ice blue raspberry, etc.)
  • Dixie or other 3 ounce cups
  • Popsicle Sticks
